I still have a sore leg, and I'm starting to think that it may be plantar fasciitis (uugh!) Not exactly easy to heal especially when I find I start to lose my mind if I can't get outside for some exercise and peace in the woods. I decided to do the family hike today whether it hurt or not (there's always ice for afterwards).
We parked at the cul de sac instead of the regular parking at the Maskwa Aquatic Club. Incredibly beautiful day for December. 10 degrees, sunny and not much wind. We headed straight up the trail and took our first stop at the tree by the lake for a rest, pictures and tree climbing. We also checked out the remains of a tree fort not far up the trail from there. We managed to mostly hike all together for most of the trail, up around Hobson Lake and skirting Fox Lake. The only other people we saw on the trail was another family of four - momma carrying the baby and the oldest child (maybe 3 or 4!) scampering ahead when I tried to chat with him. So cute and of course, reminded us of the days we hiked with the little guys who are soo big now. I took a picture of Zach at "the tree" as marked on the secret maps of the area. We did hit some wet areas that most of us managed to keep our feet dry, but there is always one! This time it was Zach. It was wearing no socks in the sneakers so he was at least comforted by the idea of putting on some wool socks. We had snack break on the big rocks at the lake. Yes, we are still eating Halloween junk (well, the boys are). On the way back, the boys started demanding a bit too much attention from Al - arguing over who got to talk to him. In the end, we left Al to take a break, and the boys went on ahead chatting about minecraft with me tailing them. Oh yes, we did see another couple then...as I was telling the boys to please be kind to each other! We took a slight detour near the end and ended up bushwacking a bit back to the trail - we think it might have been shorter. It would be nice if they established some routes in these area - but for today, it was just a little added excitement to the end of a very decent hike.

OAKFIELD PARK Nov 29 2015
We are getting back on family hike day - thanks mostly to Al as I have a sore leg and almost didn't even go. The boys agreed on Oakfield Provincial Park. The gate is closed this time of year but there is easy parking at the entrance. We did the whole loop around the park which I had never done. The boys walked along a chatted together quite a bit which was nice for me. I just strolled along a relaxed pace most of the way. It was quite windy in spots but nice to be near the water. Easy hike and enjoyed by all, and back in time to watch football!
